Seaway Surge’s Pink in the Park Tournament Win

he Seaway Surge U10 East
TBaseball Team won the Pink in the
Park, Strike Out Cancer tournament
in Peterborough on June 9. They won
12-8 in the finals against the home
team, the Peterborough AA Pirates.
The season began at the beginning
of May, and this was the team’s second
tournament. They made it to the semi-
finals in their first tournament of the
season. The team has their sights set
on provincials, which are taking place
in September.
Ten-year-old Jack Harrison has
been playing baseball for five years.
He said his favourite part about the
Pink in the Park tournament was
“making a game winning catch in the
second game of the tournament.”

This is the first year the Seaway
Surge has an East team in any division.
All of the kids come from Ingleside
and east, mostly Cornwall, whereas
the other Seaway teams come from the
west. The team is coached by Justin
Hamel, who has put in long hours to
help the players develop. This is the
first tournament win for this newly put
together team.
Jack said he enjoys going to
tournaments and having fun with
his team. This group knows how to
keep up their team spirit—getting
motivated in the dugout through their
singing and sometimes dancing. Win
